Higher education has the added challenge of money that the central organization never sees because it goes to specific programs - through research grants, donations to certain colleges, donations for the construction of specific buildings and/or naming rights - making the central strategic planning process even more of a cat-herding exercise. The principles, however, remain the same no matter what industry/organization you are working with.
