Many amazing artists create beautiful content to help drive communication around the world. A true Master is Sean Locke. His authentic, natural people images and life situations are carefully researched, done with "real people" and highly useful.

Of course you can do a search on any agency for a theme you are interested in, to get ideas how to visually express a cause that you want to promote. In stock photography you can create content for any theme. Cooking, Mothers Day or Activism. Here is a pinboard where I collect images about plastic, pollution and the environment. So when I see garbage on the beach, I don't just pick it up, but also take a picture for the agencies. You can promote any issue…freedom for journalists, women's rights, health issues or just advocating more safe spaces for children in the city.

I collect a lot of images that somehow „trigger„ me on pinterest. Some are just for myself, others are good inspiration for a stock shooting. If you just collect what you like, then in time you will discover an image style, a colour palette, a location, a day time, an activity that somehow moves you. And this connection, hopefully translates into interesting photos and videos for customers. I also have some boards for workshops that I teach. But most of it is just for myself.

If you are new to stock photography, you might like to try food and cooking at home themes. With or without people, real, authentic home life and food is something buyers always ask for. Localized content also has less competition.

I joined blackbox about a year ago, uploaded 180 clips and so far I earned around 580 dollars. That is unusually good, on most agencies you need around 1200 files to get regular sales. I would have added a picture with my results…but on factr I can still not upload photos via my ipad….

Many agencies have great blogs with current trends and what customers are looking for.

I like blogs where single artists posts real results done by one person. Income varies GREATLY in stock photography. But looking at different people with hugely different portfolios, if they are kind enough to share results, really helps.
