Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is due to start this week. According to the City of Toronto website, the 10-episode series is due for “camera start” on Thursday, February 18th, and production will run through the end of July 2021. The news is backed up by the Toronto IATSE Local, who list the series “Lily and Isaac” (the series’ working title) in production between February and July. However, it’s worth noting that there’s been no official word from CBS, as yet.
This is not new news - Strange New Worlds’ February start has been listed on the IATSE site since last year - but it’s significant because we’re now so close to the date, and a few eagle-eyed fans spotted Spock actor Ethan Peck posting an Instagram picture from Toronto. In response to one fan who asked if he was there to film Strange New Worlds, he replied with an enigmatic “winky face”.
‘Game Of Thrones’ Showrunners David Benioff And D.B. Weiss Confirmed The Worst Suspicions Of The Fanbase
IN LIGHT OF THE NEWS THAT BENIOFF AND WEISS HAVE LEFT THE STAR WARS PROJECT THEY RUSHED THE ENDING OF GOT TO GET TO, I THOUGHT THIS ARTICLE WAS VERY FITTING TO SHARE:
After the disastrous final season of Game of Thrones, which left many fans furious at the flat conclusion to an epic story, writers/showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have been extremely quiet, even going so far as to cancel their scheduled appearance at Comic Con.
At this point, every single scene, character arc (or lack thereof), and poorly-planned plot point has been thoroughly dissected and dismissed, by disappointed fans, critics, and YouTubers.
Blame fell squarely on the shoulders of Benioff and Weiss, with Game of Thrones fans recognizing that the sudden shift in quality was entirely due to decisions made in the writing room, and were generally mature enough not to blame the actors or crew members.
But Benioff and Weiss emerged from their public hibernation to attend a panel at the Austin Film Festival, and finally answer some questions from fans. The two were brutally honest, essentially admitting that they were never fully qualified for the job from the beginning.

Libraries and Archivists Are Scanning and Uploading Books That Are Secretly in the Public Domain
Millions of books are secretly in the public domain thanks to a copyright loophole, a new project seeks to put them on the Internet Archive.
A coalition of archivists, activists, and libraries are working overtime to make it easier to identify the many books that are secretly in the public domain, digitize them, and make them freely available online to everyone. The people behind the effort are now hoping to upload these books to the Internet Archive, one of the largest digital archives on the internet.
As it currently stands, all books published in the U.S. before 1924 are in the public domain, meaning they’re publicly owned and can be freely used and copied. Books published in 1964 and after are still in copyright, and by law will be for 95 years from their publication date.

This book takes place during Discovery S1 and the Klingon War when Pike and Enterprise were ordered to stay away and keep in reserve while to war was not going well for the Federation. They are exploring a strange region of space and things don’t go well….
I’m about half way through and it’s very well done, really captures Anson Mount’s Pike.
Recommended.
